Masked for the Ball

MASKED FOR THE BALL The famous masked balls of Vienna are the envy of the world on New Years Eve. Dancing the night away in glamour and splendour, the masks were removed at the end of the evening to reveal the true wearer.

However the reality may be more like we need the mask to hide the indulgence of Christmas! Prosecco, chocolate, mince pies and perhaps a less than ideal skin care regime over the break, do not a true beauty reveal! So, if you are to go to the ball how about unveiling your skins true beauty!

WHY MASK AT ALL? We believe you can’t beat using a mask for boosting the skin as part of a good home care routine. Having an armoury of masks for different skin challenges will help you combat what ever your hungover Christmas skin needs. Masks are known for infusing the skin with extra ingredients to repair a particular skin imbalance, for example if the skin feels de hydrated then a hydrating mask can give the skin that extra boost of hydration. In fact one of the most common complaints we hear is a call for more skin hydration.   But more often we find the combination of sugar and less sleep adds a shade of dullness to the skin.   WHICH MASK IS FOR ME? There is a masque to treat every conceivable skin concern with many that will multi task. For best results double cleanse the skin by massaging cleanser into face and neck and removing with warm sponges, repeat. Then use an exfoliant. Having removed the exfoliator apply your mask in upward movements to include the neck.   If you have more than one concern don’t be shy about applying more than one mask to different areas of the face. A good mud mask for the T Zone for example, followed by a rejuvenating mask for cheeks and neck. Don’t forget the all-important eyes! Okay, so what are the benefits of wearing make-up? Well, Alicia Keys no doubt wears a barrier cream while out and about, something with SPF in it, but now that most foundations and BB creams contain SPF make-up is almost essential to keep harmful, ageing rays away from the skin. In Ireland, with bitter weather, make-up creates an extra barrier of protection on the skin that protects against broken blood vessels and other nasties.   On our own shores, the celeb reviews are coming in, with Aisling O’Loughlin’s amazing radiance showing through from her recent Eminence winter facial.   Sometimes you really need the right foundation, and we don’t mean make-up – we’re talking skincare!
